Located right at the heart of Istanbul in Galatasaray Square, the central point of İstiklal Street lying between Tunnel and Taksim Square, the Yapı Kredi Cultural Art Complex has been reopened, and although the building is new, it has been renovated as an alternation of the original design made by Paul Schmitthener in 1958. Thanks to GuardianClarity™ – a featured product from Guardian Glass – being preferred in the renovation of the spectacular facade of the building that has brought culture and art lovers back to the area with the signature of Teget Architecture, visitors of the building get to experience the atmosphere of Pera at its maximum transparency.
Serving not only as a bookstore but also as an art center, the Yapı Kredi Cultural Art Complex has been recently reopened at its location in Galatasaray, Pera, after the renovations carried out by Teget Architecture. The connection built between the square and the building, the mass of the building and the design of facades facing İstiklal Street and Ara Sokak physically incorporates the cultural art complex into the surrounding urban texture and also includes the urban texture in the interior and the facade of the Yapı Kredi Cultural Art Complex opening out to İstiklal Street combines the interior with the city spectacularly thanks to Guardian Clarity™- an anti-reflective glass developed by Guardian Glass – and provides a unique experience to its visitors.
Keeping the former facade on one side and making a radical change on the other facade facing the square, Teget Architecture chose Guardian Clarity™ for the design of the new facade, which provides an excellent transparency.
Providing a very high light transmission while offering very low reflection, Guardian Clarity™ is an anti-reflective glass that stands out as the ideal solution developed for spectacular facades thanks to its functionality beyond the ordinary and the eye-catching appearance it ensures. With its "anti-reflective" feature, Guardian Clarity™ glass leads the way in designs and makes them a focal spot where excessive reflection would create an obstruction while providing visitors to the YKKS, which has become an attraction on İstiklal Street, with an impressive and uninterrupted view of Pera, enabling them to enjoy highly pleasant quality time without being isolated from the atmosphere of the neighborhood. The bookstore, museum, and exhibition halls of the building are displayed to bystanders on the square just like the internal structure of a living creature while visitors climbing up the floors within the building during their trip also get a chance to look out over İstiklal Street and Galatasaray Square from different angles and heights, an opportunity that is one of the functions of the building.
Guardian Glass, which is advancing rapidly in Turkey thanks to its state-of-the-art technological products developed for iconic buildings worldwide, not only shows respect to the urban memory with its contribution to the YKKS located at Pera, where the historical texture of the city is felt the most, but also proves the difference it has created in the design of extraordinary facades.
