Strength in numbers
Guardian Glass provides a wide range of laminated glass configurations that provide nearly as wide a range of advantages. Lamination not only significantly improves a window’s ability to withstand or resist breakage from exterior forces, it also can add colour and sound control and helps meet building codes and requirements. Glass and interlayers can be supplied in a variety of colours and thicknesses to provide just the right appearance.
Laminated glass is actually two or more lites that have been bonded together with one or more plastic interlayers using heat and pressure. While laminated glass can be broken, the fragments tend to adhere to the polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer and remain largely intact, reducing the risk of injury. Often considered a safety glass, laminated glass can incorporate toughened and heat-strengthened glass to further increase impact resistance. Guardian offers a wide variety of safety glass in laminated form, including for residential and commercial glazing applications.
Noise pollution is a serious issue for many architectural specifications, whether commercial, residential, new build or refurbished. Too much noise can be damaging to occupant health and well-being — from disrupted sleep to increased stress levels to a lack of concentration in the workplace. Guardian offers a variety of laminated solutions particularly attuned to interior and exterior sound optimization.
