Description of the project

Designed by Leach Rhodes & Walker LLP, 21 Lime Street stands at the entrance to the iconic Leadenhall Market in the heart of London. Completed in 2017, the redeveloped building has an unusual, distinct shape that provides 35,000 square feet of commercial office and retail space.

This logistically challenging project involved new piled foundations carefully threaded through the original archaeological dig, concrete basement and ground floor transfer slab, structural steel frame and large pre-cast concrete limestone-clad window panels. The seven upper floors of office space are fitted out with modern energy saving LED lighting. The building achieved a ‘very good’ BREEAM rating.

Guardian SunGuard® SuperNeutral® SN 70/35 was chosen for the windows. Guardian SunGuard® SuperNeutral SN 70/35 is a coated solar control glass that offers very high natural light transmission, while ensuring energy savings. The multifunctional coating minimises the need for artificial light and offers excellent solar protection combined with outstanding thermal insulation. The glass also has an attractive neutral blue reflected colour that is ideal for glazed façades and large framed windows.
