As Dubai’s skyline continues to grow, the Burj Al Arab remains an iconic landmark, symbolizing not only Dubai’s global image but also serving as a testament to the transformative era during which the city evolved into what it is today.
Known as the “Tower of the Arabs,” it is the tallest building in the world featuring a membrane facade. Designed to mimic the sail of a traditional dhow (Arab sailing vessel), it was strategically positioned so that its shadow never falls on the beach.
The glass facades are enhanced with Guardian Glass products, covering 50,000 square meters of pressure-equalized, high-performance semi-unitized curtain walls engineered to withstand wind pressures up to 3.2 KPA.
The use of Guardian Glass on its facades has contributed significantly to the building’s distinctive character, offering exceptional thermal insulation while creating striking blue and silver visual effects that meet stringent thermal performance standards.
