Guardian EPDs

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a verified and registered document that communicates transparent and comparable information about the life-cycle environmental impact of a product.

Guardian EPDs are developed specific to the region where the glass is manufactured.  By publishing EPDs, Guardian supports architects and designers who strive to understand the sustainability profiles of the buildings they design through the products they specify. The goal is to provide them with the information needed to achieve credits in global green building rating systems, such as LEED® and BREEAM®. For Guardian Glass products manufactured in other regions, please refer to the regional webpages for a listing of applicable EPDs.

Project Cube Berlin in Germany

On 29th June 2021, Guardian Glass in Europe renewed its Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its float, coated and laminated glass products for an additional five years.

In addition, the scope of the EPD has been widened to consider CO2 emissions generated from production processes, increasing Guardian’s level of transparency provided to our customers. Guardian took steps to consider additional system boundaries during the lifecycle assessment (LCA) like end-of-life stage and Reuse, Recovery and Recycling potential.

Please note that the ‘’average’’ glass pane used in the modeling of the LCA is a calculated average (estimated generalized value) for the pane thickness and area, and does not represent a specific product manufactured by Guardian Glass.  For calculations based on our regional float glass production values, please refer to the embodied carbon calculation feature in the Performance Calculator.
