Guardian Glass: Bringing
expert innovation to your home

Guardian Glass manufactures glass used in buildings around the world, including the glass used in many residential windows. The company was founded in 1932, in Detroit, and today operates plants worldwide.

We operate eight manufacturing sites across the United States and Mexico, producing float glass at every site, with high-performance coated glass produced at six of them. Being close to where our customers live and build allows us to understand their specific climate conditions, codes, and needs — and to respond with strong product availability, short lead times, and reliable supply.

From our glass factory to your home

Glass manufacturing is where we've concentrated our expertise for decades — and it's this focus that allows us to support glass processors, window manufacturers, and installers across North America, to help homeowners make informed glass choices when replacing or selecting new windows.

Glass manufacturing

This is the step Guardian Glass takes care of: we produce float glass, and apply a permanent coating to the glass to add thermal performance.

Glass fabrication into an IGU

Large sheets of glass are processed into insulated glass units (IGUs), commonly known as double or triple glazing.

Window manufacturing

The different components of the window are assembled to create the complete window system.

Window selection and installation

Window dealers install the window after helping homeowners select the option that meets their needs..

Why you can trust the expertise behind our glass

Manufacturing flat glass requires specialized industrial processes and significant expertise. At Guardian Glass, this expertise has been developed over decades of glass manufacturing and is used to produce the glass that will later be transformed into the glazing used in windows.
