Guardian Glass™ Launches SunGuard™ SNX 70+ coated glass

New product advances company’s triple silver technology

Auburn Hills, Michigan, United States | October 31, 2023

Debuting at GlassBuild America, the largest event for the glass, window and door industry in the Western Hemisphere, new SunGuard SNX 70+ coated glass helps meet the architectural community’s desire for glass that combines high visible light transmission, a neutral aesthetic and strong thermal performance.

The newest addition to Guardian Glass North America’s commercial range of triple silver coated glass, SunGuard SNX 70+ has a visible light transmission of 68% and a solar heat gain coefficient of 0.28 on Guardian UltraClear™ low-iron glass. The resulting 2.45 light-to-solar gain ratio is the highest in Guardian’s North American SunGuard portfolio. Paired with a 0.28 U-value, this glass can help buildings achieve their energy performance goals.

“SunGuard SNX 70+ was developed to help meet today’s requirements for improved energy performance, while still achieving an aesthetic that is transparent and neutral,” explains Alan Kinder, Director, Commercial Segment & Technical Services for Guardian Glass North America. “This triple-silver, low-E coating is designed to help deliver a consistent neutral reflected color whether glass is viewed directly or at an angle.”

By matching energy performance with a highly transparent aesthetic, SunGuard SNX 70+ transmits light and color true to life, so that views become vivid, interiors and exteriors connected – all while providing valuable thermal and solar performance.

Designed to be used on the #2 surface of a standard insulating glass unit, SunGuard SNX 70+ can be paired with a variety of substrates at the following thicknesses to help deliver the attractive exteriors and bright, comfortable interiors architects seek:

  • 6, 8, 10 and 12mm – Clear and Guardian UltraClear low-iron glass
  • 6, 8 and 10mm – Guardian CrystalGray™ glass

The product requires heat treatment and can be produced on jumbo (130" x 204") and super jumbo lites (130" x 240") at 6mm–12mm thicknesses (clear or Guardian UltraClear low-iron glass).

Guardian SunGuard SNX 70+ is available through the Guardian Select™ Fabricator network.

  • SunGuard® SNX 70+

    SunGuard® SNX 70+

Guardian SunGuard SNX 70+ low-E coated glass has an incredibly transparent, neutral aesthetic with low 14% exterior reflectivity. On Guardian UltraClear™ low-iron glass, it transmits 68% of visible light with a color rendering index of 94.5 – so that views become vivid and true to life, and interior and exterior environments feel connected. SunGuard SNX 70+ is also designed to help deliver a consistent reflected aesthetic whether glass is viewed directly or at an angle.
