Northlake Commons

Seattle’s first mass timber office building, Northlake Commons harmonizes natural materials, biophilic principles and cutting-edge glass technology. Nestled on the historic site of Dunn Lumber’s original lumber yard, the design pays homage to the site’s history while looking to the future of workplace environments and the neighborhood. Inspiration for the building’s form draws from the layered depths of a Pacific Northwest forest, incorporating elements that evoke the forest floor, understory and canopy. Operable glass windows integrate seamlessly with the mass timber structure, creating a dynamic visual contrast while maximizing natural light and views of Lake Union and downtown. SunGuard™ SNX 51/23 low-E coating on clear glass helps elevate solar and thermal performance, and its neutral-blue reflectivity enriches the exterior aesthetic. The high Color Rendering Index of the glass delivers natural light quality inside. Awarded LEED® Platinum as well as the 2024 Gold Nugget and Merit awards for best commercial project, Northlake Commons embodies Seattle’s vision for sustainable, future-ready workplaces.
