Transparent product information

Declarations, certifications and embodied carbon data

The glass you specify can affect a building's energy efficiency, the comfort of the people inside it and its wider environmental performance for decades. We publish detailed information about our products — some of it independently verified — so project teams can compare options, calculate performance and document their choices with data. What follows is an overview of what we provide, and how it can help at each stage of a project.

Understanding environmental performance across the life cycle

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a third-party verified, registered document communicating transparent information about a product's life cycle environmental attributes. Because manufacturing conditions differ, our EPDs are developed specific to the region where the glass is produced — which means the data you use reflects the glass you receive. We publish EPDs covering the float and processed glass products we manufacture across our regions.*

What it helps you do: calculate whole life carbon, compare products on a like-for-like basis, and document embodied carbon for your project.

*Laminated glass produced at our fabrication facility in Galax, United States, and sputter coated glass produced at our float glass facility in Cairo, Egypt, are not currently covered by an EPD.

Knowing what's in the product, and how to handle it safely

Health Product Declarations (HPDs) disclose the materials used in manufacturing and associated health information, screened against the HPD Priority Hazard Lists and GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals. They complement life cycle reports such as EPDs, and are third-party verified. We offer three HPDs covering uncoated float, sputter (vacuum) coated and UltraMirror™ products — globally.

We also provide voluntary Safety Data Sheets (SDS) covering all uncoated, sputter coated, laminated and UltraMirror products produced globally, supporting safe use and handling and including declarations on compliance with chemical control laws such as REACH, RoHS, CA Prop 65 and the LBC Red List.

Knowing how the plant behind the product is managed

More than half of our manufacturing plants worldwide have been audited and certified to ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management, which helps us identify, monitor and measure areas of environmental improvement.

What it helps you do: verify that the operations supplying your project work to recognized international standards.

What's available in your region

The declarations above apply across our operations*. Some regions have additional documents that reflect local frameworks and databases:

  • France — FDES. Declarations published on the INIES national database, covering our European manufacturing of float, coated and laminated glass, including a dedicated certificate for lower carbon glass products made in Europe. FDES are required under the RE2020 regulation to evaluate a product's environmental attributes within a building.

  • Qatar and the wider region — IGM EPDs. Independently verified declarations issued under the International Green Mark program operated by the GORD® Institute, which architects, consultants and specifiers can reference when evaluating materials. Separate certificates cover products manufactured in AME&I and in Europe, including a dedicated certificate for lower carbon glass products made in Europe.

*Availability varies by region. Select your region to see the declarations that apply to your project.
